Students in the Eastlake High School nail tech and cosmetology programs traveled to San Antonio last semester to learn from experts at a professional hair show and to learn about college life with a visit to the University of Texas at San Antonio.
At UTSA, the students gained information about the different programs and scholarships offered at the university. The UTSA administration welcomed the students and answered their questions on the courses of study in the many degree plans offered, including engineering, education, business, art, and math.
The hair show visit allowed the nail tech and cosmetology students to observe professionals and hear lectures from them on various techniques to cut and dye hair and doing nails. The students also took specialized classes on the hair and nail techniques.
The second day visit to the hair show allowed the students to attend OPI nail classes, learn how to create designs with gel polishes, and spend more time learning from the hair and nail professionals about the best products to use, how to perfect a bob haircut, and mastering a beautiful set of sculptured nails.
The college visit and hair show was also an opportunity for the students to form strong bonds with one another and network with students from other schools across Texas.
