El Paso County Sheriff’s Office officials say their counterparts in New Mexico have captured a sex offender who escaped back in March.
EPCSO officials share that Fernando Esqueda was arrested on Saturday, September 2, in Otero County, New Mexico and booked into the Otero County Jail by the Otero County Sheriff’s Office. Esqueda is awaiting extradition back to El Paso County.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the communities assistance in locating Fernando Ray Esqueda. Esqueda escaped from the El Paso Multi-Use Facility located at 1700 Horizon Boulevard on Friday, March 3rd, 2017.
Esqueda’s whereabouts are now unknown. He is now wanted on a Parole Violation and an additional charge of Sex Offenders Duty to Register is forthcoming. His sex offense(s) are 2 counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, the victim being a 13-year-old female.
He is on parole for said offense(s).
