SISD’s Child Nutrition Services has launched Meal Viewer, a free mobile app that allows parents and students to view school breakfast and lunch menus and get the nutritional values of specific food items.
The app also gives parents and students the opportunity to provide the CNS department feedback by rating menu items and marking their favorite foods.
“This is a great tool for our Team SISD families,” said Shelley Chenausky, director of child nutrition services. “This app allows easy access to menus, nutritionals and much more at your fingertips.”
Meal Viewer allows users to build a profile where they can list allergen ingredients such as peanuts, wheat, egg, and soy. The feature also provides notifications on the meals that contain ingredients in the allergens list.
Other functions include a nutrition calculator that helps parents and students manage and monitor dietary restrictions such as carb and calorie intake.
Meal Viewer is available for free download on the App Store and Google Play.
