On Wedesday, Novmeber 8th, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office officials identified they young man shot late Saturday night. According to EPCSO officials, 22-year-old Erik Aragon died at a local area Hospital as a result of his injuries.
Officers with the Horizon City Police Department were called out to a shooting in the center of Horizon City late Saturday Night, where one man was struck by the gunfire.
The shooting happened sometime after 10 p.m. along the 13900 block of Horizon Boulevard, in a business driveway between Benny’s Plaza and the McDonald’s.
HCPD Chief Mike McConnell, who was on scene, said that one individual was struck during the shooting incident and said that more information would be shared via a news release, once the initial investigation was complete. He went on to assure the community that the incident was over and posed no greater threat to the community.
According to the news release that was sent out early Sunday morning, the man who was struck was “unresponsive on the ground and bleeding.” The victim was only identified as a ’22-year-old male Horizon City resident,’ who was transported by Life Ambulance to Del Sol Hospital.
His name and condition would not be released, ‘pending further investigation.’
Just a few feet away from the multiple yellow markers that investigators placed to mark the spent casings from the shooting, was a late-model Jeep, it’s driver’s and passenger’s doors open, and officers removing items and placing them into a bag.
Directly behind the Jeep were a group of young women leaning on a police car, interspersed with HCPD Officers.
Even though yellow crime scene tape ringed the entire scene, the McDonald’s drive-through was open for business and curious customers were snapping photos and videos with their phones, while in line.
