Both area school districts that serve Horizon and the surrounding High Desert – Clint and Socorro – are preparing to help continue the education of students at home during this COVID-19 Pandemic.
First out of the digital gate will be Clint ISD, who released the following statement about distance learning starting on Tuesday, March 24th. Socorro ISD will be providing an update to parents on the same day, detailing their plans for distance learning.
Clint ISD schools and buildings remain closed through April 3 due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. However, we are committed to continue to provide the quality education our parents and community has come to expect from Clint ISD.
Four years ago, Clint ISD invested in the 1:1 Device Initiative to provide every student with an iPad, Chromebook or laptop. This has allowed Clint ISD to create a robust remote learning plan for every student in Pre-K through 12th grade so learning can continue for students during the current district closure. In addition, Clint ISD has purchased 5,000 hotspots to assist our families with Internet access.
On Monday, March 23, Clint ISD teachers and schools will begin contacting students and parents to determine technology needs and provide support as students prepare to learn from home. On Tuesday, March 24, students will begin the Clint ISD Remote Learning Plan through Friday, April 3.
Parents may access their child’s daily learning schedule and assignments, as well as information on free lunches, technology needs, and contact information on our District website, www.clintweb.net, and on school websites.
If parents need assistance, they can contact their child’s teacher or district personnel for assistance and support between 8 am to 3 pm.
Clint ISD will provide breakfast and lunch service March 23‐27, 2020 and March 30, 2020 through April 3, 2020. The meals will be made available at all schools in Clint ISD to pick up and take home.
To assist families who cannot walk/drive to the schools, Clint ISD busses will stop at specific locations to drop off meals.
SISD principals and teachers are working diligently to develop a Remote Learning Instructional Plan for our SISD students. More information regarding our Remote Learning Instructional Plan will be sent out to parents by SISD principals and teachers by Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
In the meantime, parents and students can find a list of free online instructional resources to use during the school closure by clicking here.
Team SISD will offer FREE meals to ALL students via pickup service at ALL traditional schools during district closure. SISD will provide breakfast and lunch service March 24-27, 2020 and March 30, 2020 through April 3, 2020.
