Thursday afternoon, officials with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO) announced the arrest of one man after he was found with plywood sheets, allegedly stolen from a high desert construction site.
According to EPCSO officials, during the early morning hours of July 30, 2020, deputies conducted a traffic stop along the 12800 block of Iron Falls.
“As a result of the traffic stop, 34-year-old Rodrigo Alonso Moreno-Acosta, was found to be in possession of several plywood sheets,” EPCSO officials shared via a news release.
Sheriff’s officials shared that their investigation found that Moreno allegedly removed the plywood sheets without the owner’s consent from a home under construction in the nearby subdivision.
“Investigators obtained a search warrant for Moreno’s home and additional stolen construction materials were located from previous investigations,” officials added.
Moreno was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on three counts of Theft of Property. No other information is available at this time.
