EPCSO investigate Aggravated Assault during ‘large party’ at Darrington vacant warehouse

El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating shooting that took place early Sunday morning at a party being held at a warehouse on Darrington Street.

Officials say that on July 19, 2020, at approximately 1:00 am, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a fight in progress with reported shots fired on the 1490 block of South Darrington, a few miles outside of Horizon City.

“Upon arrival, deputies discovered a large party was being hosted at a vacant warehouse,” EPCSO officials shared.  “One victim was transported to a local area hospital after suffering a non life-threatening gunshot wound to his buttocks.”

The investigation remains ongoing and, while no other information is available at this time, EPCSO officials reminded the public about large gatherings or parties.

“The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that social gatherings of ten or more individuals are a violation of Governor Abbott’s Executive Order issued July 2, 2020.”

EPCSO officials say that, as a result of the closure of bars and night clubs as ordered by the governor, this location and other similar establishments are being used to host large parties.  Businesses hosting these type of gatherings will be subject to investigation.

The community is encouraged to report violations of the executive order by calling 9-1-1 or submitting anonymous tips online.
