EPCSO Major Crimes Unit Charges Student with Terroristic Threats After Horizon Competition Incident

Almost two weeks ago, concerned residents and parents alerted HorizonCity.com to a heavy police presence at one of the campuses, today we know the reason.

According to El Paso County Sheriff’s Officials, on February 17, 2018, students from Garcia-Enriquez Middle School – from San Elizario ISD – were attending a UIL Academic Competition in Horizon City.

Several Garcia-Enriquez students received anonymous cell phone messages stating that someone was going to shoot up the school. This action caused fear for the safety of the students resulting in the cancellation of the competition.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit investigated the case and identified the student as a 14-year-old female who attends Garcia Enriquez Middle School.

The student was charged with Terroristic Threat (fear of imminent serious bodily injury), a Class B Misdemeanor and referred to the County Attorney’s Office.

As the student is a minor, neither the students name, nor mug, will be released.
