EPCSO Update: Sex Offender who failed to return to facility last Friday, turns self in

UPDATE: As of January 23, 2020, Barrentine self-surrendered to the Parole Office and was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility by Sheriff’s Office deputies.

On Wednesday evening, officials with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office sent out a request for assistance from the community in locating Ladon Barrentine, a sex offender who failed to return to his facility last week.

According to EPCSO officials, Barrentine left the El Paso Multi-Use Facility, located at 1700 Horizon Avenue, south of Horizon City and next to the Sparks neighborhood on Friday, January 17.

Officials say he was allowed a pass to search for a job, but never returned to the facility and his whereabouts are now unknown. His last location was at a business located on 9500 block of Gateway West Boulevard.

Barrentine is now wanted on a Parole Violation and an additional charge of Fail to Comply with Sex Offenders Duty to Register is forthcoming. His sex offense is for Criminal Sexual Conduct 4th Degree out of the State of Michigan, the victim being a 15- year-old female. He is also on Parole for Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle.
