Students at Horizon Heights Elementary got a visit last week from officials at the El Paso Community Foundation for their ARK collection day.

The ARK project is meant to introduce the idea of philanthropy at a young age. ARK, which stands for Acts of Random Kindness, is a project of Change Our World for Good, an organization that is trying to change the world through kindness.

The students at Horizon Heights Elementary collected over $4,000 and selected the Rescue Mission of El Paso, The Child Crisis Center of El Paso, Law N Paws Animal RescueSt. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation to benefit from their kindness.

They even got to hear how their pennies and dimes will be put into action from the benefiting organizations.

The El Paso Community Foundation is partnering with schools to bring the project to El Paso.

Each student receives an “ARK” money bank to fill with change over a period of time. Then they choose an organization that will benefit from their donations and acts of random kindness.
