As the polls closed Saturday night in the High Desert, only three of the seven races up for grabs were contested.
With a little over 400 residents turning out, Mayor Ruben Mendoza won another term, defeating Adrian Rivera by 32 votes.
For Alderman, place three, the margin of victory was a bit larger as Charlie Ortega defeated Silas Baca by over 200 votes. Alderpersons Samantha Corral and Johnny ‘Doc’ Duran were unopposed in their races.
Over on the Horizon Regional Municipal Utilities District (HRMUD) Mike Barton defeated Kit Thomas with a 186 vote margin. Dean Hulsey and Bonnie Farmer Moorhouse were also unopposed.
