Sparks man arrested, charged after dogs attack woman

A man who lives in the Sparks neighborhood, just south of Horizon City, was arrested after several of his dogs attacked a woman earlier this week.

On Wednesday, June 5, 2019, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 12700 block of Bunyan Way in reference to an animal bite.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a female had been attacked by several loose dogs. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment.  She remains in the hospital in stable condition.

According to officials, a follow-up investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Animal Welfare Unit led to the location and seizure of the dogs responsible for the attack.

The dogs were turned over to El Paso Animal Services.

The owner of the dogs, 23-year-old Luis Caudillo, received four citations for Failure to Confine Animals and four citations for Failure to Vaccinate and Register Animals.

On Friday, June 7, 2019, Caudillo was charged and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Attack by Dog/Serious Bodily Injury with a $50,000 bond.
