The organizers of Horizon City Kindness Day (HCKD) invite everyone to take part in today’s town-wide event.
HCKD will take place today, Sunday, August 19, 2018. This day is dedicated to performing random acts of kindness within our families and friends, but especially with random strangers. It can be as simple as holding the door open for someone or paying for someone’s meal. It doesn’t necessarily have to cost money.
It is done in honor of Misael Hernandez birthday, who passed away in June 2014 at the age of 17. He was a Horizon High School graduate and was known for being kind and helping as many people as he could.
HCKD began in 2015 when Misael’s family decided to do something special on his birthday. His life had such an impact on so many, that they wanted to continue his legacy. The family performed several acts of kindness and handed out cards letting people know it was done in honor of Misael. This brought a lot of smiles to many people. The following year, friends joined in doing this and some community members joined as well. Last year hundreds of people participated, and we hope that this year is the biggest yet.
Everyone is invited to join us in performing one or several acts of kindness. We believe kindness is contagious and brings the community together. You don’t necessarily have to live in Horizon City to participate, it can be done anywhere.
