The Socorro Coalition for Elderly Assistance aims to help our growing senior citizen population by making sure they get the help they need.
With locations in Horizon City, Socorro and another location in the Northeast, a family owned group of adult day care centers has coordinated all their efforts to form the Socorro Coalition for Elderly Assistance, whose mission is to identify seniors in need of basics when the money runs short.
Club de Amistad (Horizon City), Mi Pueblo Adult Day Care (Socorro) and Salubris Day Activity & Health Services (Northeast) formed the coalition with healthcare providers citywide to form the Coalition of concerned citizens and businesses to ensure that they serve the senior community.
The Coalition was quick to identify that not all senior citizens have a family or circle of friends to turn to in time of need. The Coalition has become that family support system that helps fill the gap.
Help comes in the form of emergency utility payments, pantry supplies, and personal items when the money runs tight and they have nowhere to turn.
And the Coalition does not just provide supplies, food, and money.
The volunteer group made up mostly of daycare owners, workers, and business partners roll up their sleeves when they have to. It is not uncommon for them to come together to help with yard work or home repair for a senior living in a dangerous situation.
Help them in their effort to care for our elderly and join them for the 2nd Annual Grandparents Day 5k Run / 1k Walk / Healthfair.
All profits go to the Coalition Assitance fund.
